Booked a second P2P Video Interview — what I did differently this time

Did a P2P Video Interview a few weeks back (my first one) and it was fine but I felt like I didn't get as much out of it as I could have. Just did a second one and changed a few things — sharing what actually made a difference in case it's useful for anyone planning theirs.

What I changed

  • Sent the JD beforehand, not just the role name. First time I just said "Business Analyst round," and got generic questions. This time I sent the actual job description to my interviewer a day early and the questions were noticeably sharper and more relevant to what I'm actually interviewing for.
  • Picked "Both" rounds instead of just one. First time was Behavioural only. Doing Technical right after Behavioural in the same session was more realistic — a lot of real interviews don't give you a clean break between the two, and switching gears mid-call was good practice on its own.
  • Told my interviewer explicitly what to be harsh about. Said upfront: "please push back if my case-study answers are too vague, that's my actual weak spot." Got much more specific, useful feedback than the polite general stuff I got the first round.

The report

Read the automatic report properly this time instead of just glancing at the score — it flagged a pattern in my case-study answers (jumping to a solution before stating assumptions) that I genuinely hadn't noticed either time it happened live, only in writing afterward.

Would recommend doing more than one of these if you have willing people to ask — the second one was noticeably more useful just from a few small changes on my end, not anything different about the format itself.
