Practising English answers out loud when you live with family — how do you find the space?

A young man practising at his laptop at home.

Slightly different kind of question. I know speaking practice has to be out loud, not in my head. But I live with my family in a small flat and I feel really self-conscious practising interview answers in English where everyone can hear.

What I've tried so far:

  • Early mornings before everyone's up. Works, but I'm half asleep.
  • Recording voice notes on a walk. Works surprisingly well, but it's hard to do structured practice.
  • Whispering. Pointless, it doesn't feel like real speaking.

For people who've improved their spoken English at home: how did you get past the embarrassment? Did it get easier once your family knew why you were doing it? Any routines that fit into a normal day?
