Recording yourself speaking English: how often do you actually listen back?

A woman recording herself speaking at a microphone.

I started recording myself answering one question a day in English, about 60–90 seconds each. Recording is easy. Listening back is the hard part. I cringe at my own voice and usually skip it, which I know defeats the point.

When I do listen, the same things come up: "basically" in every sentence, abandoning sentences halfway, and speaking faster as I go.

A few questions for people who've made this a habit:

  • Do you listen back every day or once a week?
  • Do you write down mistakes, or just try to remember one thing to fix?
  • Did hearing your own voice get less awkward over time?

Also curious whether anyone uses AI feedback on their spoken answers alongside this, and whether it caught things you missed yourself.
