Biology carries 360 of NEET's 720 marks, half the paper. So it's no surprise that most NEET aspirants spend most of their time on it. The question is how to practise it: chapter by chapter, or with full mock tests? The honest answer is both, but in different proportions at different stages.

What topic-wise tests are good for

  • Finding exact weak spots. A full mock tells you "Biology: 290/360." A topic test tells you it's Plant Physiology and Human Reproduction that are costing you.
  • Building depth right after studying a chapter. Testing yourself within a day or two of learning a topic locks it in far better than re-reading.
  • Short, frequent sessions. A 20-question topic test fits into 25 minutes. A full mock doesn't fit into a weekday evening.

What full mocks are good for

  • Stamina and pacing across the whole paper, including the switch between Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
  • Mixing. In the real exam, a Genetics question follows an Ecology one. Topic tests never train that switching.
  • Realistic score tracking over time.

A balance that shifts through the year

  • While covering the syllabus: mostly topic tests, right after each chapter, plus an occasional full mock.
  • After the syllabus is done: roughly equal, with full mocks to find weak chapters and topic tests to fix them.
  • Final stretch: mostly full mocks, with topic tests only for chapters that keep showing up as weak.

The NCERT link

NEET Biology leans heavily on NCERT, often down to specific lines, diagrams and examples. When a topic test shows a weak chapter, go back to the NCERT text for that chapter first, before any reference book. Then retest the same topic a few days later to confirm the fix actually held.

How to run this on Sanviora

Sanviora's NEET mock tests support both modes: full papers in the real pattern and marking (+4 / −1), and subject and topic-wise tests where you pick exactly the Botany or Zoology chapters you want. Questions are tagged easy, medium or hard, and after each paper you can turn the questions you got wrong into an AI Flashcards deck, so the weak spots a test uncovers become your revision material for the next few days.
